MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say two adults and a dog had to be rescued Wednesday morning after a fire that started at a vacant home in north Minneapolis spread to another occupied home.

Crews responded to the 3800 block of Dupont Avenue North just after 2 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, a home later discovered to be vacant was completely engulfed in flames. That home was completely destroyed, but crews saw that it had spread to a nearby home that contained two adults and a dog.

Authorities were able to evacuate the occupants from that home safely and said there was damage to the second floor and attic of that home. The fire came through the window. Fire officials are investigating what caused the fire.
