MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A man and a woman were rescued from the Mississippi River after their boat capsized Friday afternoon, according to the Minneapolis Fire Department.
Crews were dispatched the area of the Camden Boat Launch in north Minneapolis just after 1:30 p.m. after a report of two people struggling in the water.
Firefighters in water-rescue suits jumped in the river and were able to throw the couple a rope to pull them to shore.
The couple, who were not wearing life jackets, showed symptoms of hypothermia and were taken to the hospital.
Coincidentally, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers closed three waterways on the Mississippi in Minneapolis to recreational boaters on Friday afternoon due to high water flows.
