MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Two people were rescued from an island in the Mississippi River near northeast Minneapolis Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, two people became stranded after apparently walking out to an island just west of Marshall Terrace Park near Marshall Street Northeast and 28th Avenue Northeast.
Both people were retrieved by fire crews and transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.
The fire department reminds citizens that the river ice is not safe to walk on.
